Pre-vocational Training

The pre-vocational training (abbreviated BvB) available at the Euro-BBW is geared towards young persons who need room for further personal development before deciding on a particular career.

A BvB course normally takes 11 months to complete. We can, however, structure the pre-vocational training depending on the age and individual requirements of the participant.

A typical BvB is structured into three stages.

  • To begin with, an aptitude analysis is carried out over three weeks, with the aim of highlighting a participant's key assets. Various assessment methods are applied, e.g. HAMET (oriented module for the assessment and development of vocational skills). During the aptitude analysis all participants get a trial placement in the following fields of work: carpentry, painting and decorating, metalwork, landscape gardening, domestic science and cooking, office and sales work, customer service. The diverse results are put together to form a profile from which the strengths and individual interests can be detected and built upon.
  • In the subsequent five month foundation course, the participants learn and practice in at least two areas of work depending on their profile. This takes place on the one hand in workshops/factories and on the other in the inhouse vocational school. The primary aim of this phase is to create a career orientation based on the participant's key assets. Above all, we further the acquisition of skills required for entry into further education or employment.
  • In the remaining five month development stage the participants are specifically trained towards a desired and realistic career path.

The pre-vocational training course especially benefits from the accommodation in a boarding school. This serves the development of social skills above all.

Every BvB ends with an individual recommendation regarding further possible steps. This could be a vocational education but also, for example, the integration in the job market, in a workshop for people with special needs or in a medical rehabilitation scheme.
